Proud Papa!

20 06 2010

That I am!  Sitting here on a Sunday night with Karen after a 3 1/2 mile run together…I sit here proud!  We’re watching the Red Sox play the LA Dodgers on ESPN Sunday night baseball and waiting to see Daniel run on the field during the 7th inning stretch as the Red Sox Grounds Crew sweeps the field.  Daniel sent a txt message asking me to check out the wrist bands the Red Sox are wearing.   All he would say is…HAPPY FATHERS DAY!

Kara called me from Hawaii this morning and wished me Happy Fathers Day and Shane called me from Boston to wish me Happy Fathers Day!  I am so proud of our kids having grown up to become independent, self-sufficient and pursuing their dreams.  All three of them love Jesus and are living for Him and nothing can make a dad prouder.  They call me Dad, Daddy, Pops and even sometimes, Jerry (HA!).  And as long as they always call me – I’ll be proud!

I LOVE their mom more than anything in the world and in their absence this Fathers Day, she has made today a great Fathers Day.  We went to church and served their together, came home and grilled salmon (marinated in brown sugar) and then took a run together.

Life is best when lived simply for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ – life’s purpose fixed firmly in our hearts and minds and loving each other passionately despite the roadblocks, bumps, hick-ups and mess ups.  I performed a wedding yesterday for a young couple which always reminds me and refreshes me in my marriage and stand proud of what God can do and will do when you stay focused on Him.  Thank you Jesus for the privilege to be called Dad, Daddy, Pops and even…JERRY!
