USC Football Players Reunion…Incredible!

16 05 2010

I don’t believe I can put into words how to describe this weekend.  Approximately 125 of 250 former players from 1974 – 1982 met in N. Myrtle Beach and spent the weekend reminiscing and catching up on the past 30 years.  It was incredible to hear where guys were, to hear of their successes, and to see their families.  We met at the Dye Club near Barefoot Landing and stayed at Crescent Shores right on the beach.  We ate well and enjoyed the beach and even had a church service this morning.  Our coaches were a rare breed of coach.  They invested in our lives as if they were our fathers and their wives and children were as much a part of our family as they were.  It was incredible.  Here are some pics…

Great group of guys showed up!

Almost a decade of USC Quarterbacks - Jeff Grantz, me and Ron Bass (Sunshine)

My roommate, Marc Loggins with Karen and Kara

Karen, Coach Carlen and me...

Me with most of my offensive line - Steve Gettel (Colorado), Chuck Slaughter (Charleston) and Joe Doyle (Columbia)

I’m going to put the rest of the pics on Facebook but wanted to get these out there.  Seriously, these guys are making a difference in their communities, families, businesses and I am SO proud to be a part of them.  The old song, WE ARE FAMILY, rang true this weekend.  A special thanks to W.J. Jordan, Hugh Bell, Percy Reeves and Bernard Grant and MANY others for helping pull this off.
